Head of Digital Marketing
About the office
Sum Dek Joe is an economist and a candidate with Parti BERSAMA Malaysia, running a constituency and campaign office serving the Greater Klang Valley. The office handles constituent complaints, community programmes, policy research, public communications and volunteer coordination. It is a small, fast-moving team where responsibilities are broad and the work is visible.
Purpose of the role
The Head of Digital Marketing owns how this campaign is seen and heard online. You will turn economic policy and community work into content that ordinary Malaysians actually want to watch, read and share — across three languages and every major platform.
Key responsibilities
- Own and execute the digital strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X and the campaign website
- Plan and produce a consistent content calendar: short-form video, graphics, written posts and newsletters
- Shoot, direct and edit short-form video, or manage the freelancers who do
- Adapt messaging appropriately across Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin audiences
- Grow reach and engagement with clear targets, and report on what is and is not working
- Manage paid social campaigns and their budgets
- Monitor public sentiment and flag emerging narratives or issues to the candidate
- Maintain brand and messaging consistency across all published material
- Work with the office team so that online content reflects real community work on the ground
Essential requirements
- At least 4 years in digital marketing, social media or content production, including some leadership responsibility
- A portfolio showing measurable audience growth
- Hands-on short-form video editing skills
- Strong written communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English
- Fluency with analytics tools and comfort making decisions from data
- Sound political judgement and an understanding of the Malaysian media landscape
Desirable
- Experience in political campaigns, advocacy or public affairs
- Mandarin proficiency, written or spoken
- Design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent)
- Experience managing a small team or freelancer network
- Interest in economics and public policy
What we offer
- Ownership of a campaign's entire public voice, with real creative latitude
- Direct access to the candidate and involvement in strategy
- EPF, SOCSO and statutory contributions
- Annual leave and public holidays in line with the Employment Act
- Work that is genuinely consequential rather than another brand account
